What’s the big deal with top trending colours? I’ve been doing a lot of talking about colour lately (two Decorex Shows and a House & Garden show will do that to you!)! I’ve realised that more and more, people want the colour process simplified. People want guidance and inspiration so they can make their colour choices with confidence. We give you these top ten trending colours so you can walk away 100% happy with your results.
Often when people start researching what colours to choose to redecorate a particular room (or their entire house!) they look at all the amazing colour trends and can become a bit overwhelmed. That’s why we’ve set out to simplify the top ten trending colours from Plascon. We’ve based our choices on what colours are tinted most often (genius, I know!).
Here’s the breakdown of the top ten trending colours. We’ve also included loads of visual inspiration to help you make that all-important colour choice!
Silver (38)
Silver (38) is a versatile, mid-tone grey taken from Plascon’s timeless Essential Collection.
For interior spaces, Silver contrasts wonderfully with bright pops of colour but stands equally strong as a clean and calming neutral.
Silver is also a strong contender for exterior walls and couples powerfully with darker colours such as Bovine (47) or Dark Onyx (42).
Mandarin Tusk (49)
This colour is the ultimate neutral and never seems to go out of style.
It can stand alone and deliver a softer tone than the above grey, or be paired with a darker grey such as Paris Paving (53) for a lovely contrast.
Off Shore (50)
Another timeless neutral that’s consistently found in the top most popular colours by Plascon is Off Shore (50). Found in the Plascon Essential Collection, this Architectural Grey is often specified as it is a fabulous neutral backdrop for other, brighter colours to play on. It pairs equally well with pastel shades as well as bright pops of colour (as seen in Plascon’s 2021 High Frequency Colour story).
Light Stone (68)
A popular choice for those who are not too keen on greys but still want a neutral touch, is Plascon’s Light Stone (68). This versatile neutral featured in Plascon’s Endless Hope Colour Story in 2021 and pairs seamlessly with muted tones like Powdered Fern (G5-C2-2) and Stardust (B5-C2-2) for a harmonious and tranquil space.
Aluminium Snow (45)
This cool neutral can make the perfect backdrop for other, brighter colours to really shine. Featured in Plascon’s Architectural Grey Collection, Aluminium Snow is a great option if you’re going for a sleek, super-modern look.
Ivory Parchment (Y3-D2-3)
A neutral with a slight yellow undertone, this colour showcases the gentle aged perfection of ivory and parchment and pairs beautifully with other yellow and brown-toned neutrals.
Geneva Morn (51)
Another fabulous neutral taken from Plascon’s 2021 Autumn Colour Palette, Sunset Shadows, Geneva Morn is slightly darker than Off Shore (50), and plays beautifully with earthy tones such as Plascon’s Golden Syrup (Y2-B1-2) and Ocean Grotto (G1-E1-4).
Agean Spleandour (40)
This mid-grey tone from Plascon’s Essentials Collection is perfect for highlighting your favourite works of art and will really make colours pop.
Bovine (47)
Bovine (47) is a wonderful, fairly severe dark grey that combines beautifully with bright, primary colours. It functions as a wonderful backdrop for brightly colour works of art, or other features you want to highlight.
Dried Leaf (25)
This soft off-white neutral is ideal for creating a serene, tranquil space. Add interest by bringing in varied neutral shades and different textures in your furnishings and embellishments for a harmonious monochromatic look.
At Plascon Paint Expert we always recommend that you:
- Narrow down your paint choices to three or four
- Sample your short list of choices
- Brush out samples and view the brush-outs in various lighting conditions. (paint can look quite different on a wall that’s in shadow, for example)
