Plascon has just dropped their Colour Combination of the year for 2023 and we LOVE IT!
Just like the Plascon’s Combo for 2022, this year’s selection also takes its inspiration from the natural world. Leaning more towards the earthy tones of Africa, Plascon has selected three colours that are sure to warm up any space.
This combination is at once both warm and familiar and grounds us in nature by taking us back to our roots.
Plascon presents their Colour Combination of the Year using the 60-30-10 design rule. This makes it as easy as 1-2-3 to get a professional décor-style finish.
What is the 60-30-10 Rule?
The 60-30-10 Rule is a tried-and-true décor rule that aids in creating a palette for a room. In a nutshell, you should have three main colours: 60% primary, 30% secondary, and 10% accent. The three colours should be combined to form a palette and a thematic element of the room.
Put simply:
The dominating wall colour accounts for 60% of the total.
The secondary wall colour accounts for 30% of the total.
The accent colour accounts for 10% of the total.
Plascon Fun in the Sun (Y1-A2-1)
Light, fresh, and clear, Fun in the Sun (Y1-A2-1) is a warm colour with a red undertone that evokes memories of a South African sunset.
Plascon Sunkissed (Y3-A1-2)
Add accents in the uplifting yellow of Sunkissed (Y3-A1-2). It evokes the deep yellow of our African sun and brings warmth and optimism to our living spaces.
Sunkissed (Y3-A1-2) is a wonderful warm yellow. It is perfect for a pop of colour and can liven up any room. It also pairs beautifully with darker, chocolatey hues like Stucco Wall (O6-E1-2), as well as greys and blacks like Tibetan Cloak (65) and Ewa (72).
Plascon Safari Sun (O7-C1-1)
The earthy orange-brown of Safari Sun (O7-C1-1) brings a deeper earthen note.
This colour serves to create soothing spaces and anchors the colour palette.
The colours that we choose to decorate our houses with say a lot about who we are and what we like. Some people are drawn to traditional and timeless colour palettes for their homes, while others want to take a riskier approach by incorporating vivid colour tones into their interior design.
